The Kreiskliniken Reutlingen gGmbH is pleased to announce the launch of an annual exchange program with our long-standing partner, the University of Iowa Health Care (Iowa City, USA). This program builds on the successful collaboration established during the Magnet for Europe study and offers valuable opportunities for one nursing student in their third year of training.
Program Objectives
- Gain insight into the daily life of American nursing students at the University of Iowa’s College of Nursing.
- Participate in theoretical and practical classes, skills lab training, and clinical visits.
- Complete a comparative assignment on the U.S. and German healthcare systems
March 23 – April 19, 2026 (Course GPA 24/B)
Selection Process
Nursing student candidates will be evaluated by a committee (school management, head of practical training, and youth/student representatives) based on:
- Academic performance
- Clinical placement evaluations
- Attendance record
- Nursing values and professional motivation
- English proficiency (assessed during the interview and presentation)
- Potential contribution of their project to the School of Nursing or Kreiskliniken Reutlingen
Costs and Organizations
Covered by Kreiskliniken Reutlingen:
- Flight costs
- Accommodation in cooperation with University of Iowa Health Care
- Daily allowance of €25 for students
Covered by participants:
- Visa application (reimbursed by employer)
- Personal expenses
